LIVER TRAINING TREATS

A firm favourite with all of our Active K9's,

these liver treats will have your dog jumping for joy!

What you will need:

  • Liver 250g (Lamb, chicken or beef)

  • Flour 200g (Buckwheat or Spelt)

  • Eggs x3 (medium, free range, lightly beaten)

  • Organic Oatmeal 100g

  • 2 tbsps of softened coconut oil

  • Optional small sprinkling of flax

  • 10" baking tray

  • Baking parchment

  • Food processor

  • Mixing bowl

  • Sealed container/Freezer bags

How to make:

  • Preheat oven to 180c/fan 160c/gas 4.

  • Line baking tray with very lightly oiled baking parchment.

  • In a food processor add the liver, eggs, coconut oil and pulse until a fairly smooth pate is formed.

  • You can then either add the oats to the mixture and blend, or transfer the wet ingredients into a bowl and stir in the flour and oats by hand. A splash of water may be necessary if the mix is a little too dry.

  • Pour into the prepared tin, level off with a palate knife and bake in the centre of the preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes, depending on your oven.

  • Remove from oven and leave to cool whilst in the tin, placed on a wire cooling rack.

  • Cut into the required portion size when the bake is cool. If you are using these as training treats then smaller portions are better. They have a strong scent and flavour and a little goes a long way.

  • Keep the liver treats in a sealed container in the fridge for up to a week, or better still divide into individual bags and freeze. They defrost quickly so you can just take out what is needed for that day.

Note: Just be mindful that liver can be rich and too much in one training session can cause looser stools.
